Features and Benefits
The Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Green Building Rating System™ encourages and accelerates global
adoption of sustainable green building and development practices
through the creation and implementation of universally understood
and accepted tools and performance criteria. Bamboo Fusion
contributes to the following certification under the commercial LEED
system:
-
LEED® MR Credit 6: Rapidly Renewable
Materials: The
USGBC has established this requirement to help "reduce
the use and depletion of finite raw materials and long cycle
materials by replacing them with rapidly renewable materials."
-
LEED® IEQ Credit 4.4: Low Emitting
Materials: The USGBC has established this requirement
to help "reduce
the quantity of indoor air contaminants that are odorous,
irritating and/or harmful to the comfort and well being of
installers and occupants."
Bamboo is notable for it’s strength, hardness, and
growth rate. Strand woven bamboo is recognized for its durability
and versatility;
-
A bamboo pole takes roughly 5 years to
mature, if it is not harvested after this time, the pole
falls over naturally and a new pole will regenerate from the
rhizome. One culm can produce up to 200 poles in a single
life cycle.
-
Hypoallergenic and non-pollutant
-
Naturally UV resistant
-
Natural Collection colors are 100% natural
(Coffee, Tiger and Natural)
-
Twice the indentation resistance of Red Oak
-
Minimal expansion and contraction
-
Matching trims and moldings available
The Production
Process of Strand Woven Bamboo
The Bamboo Fusion patent production
method is unique, in that the poles are split, shredded into individual
strands, and fused under a
cold press of 2,500 tons of pressure. After the curing process, the
block (or what resembles a railroad tie) is sliced into flooring with
coatings applied and Uniclic or T&G joint systems milled.
The natural colors of Coffee & Tiger are
achieved through carbonization; a process of heat and steam treatment
of the raw strand woven bamboo. This method caramelizes the natural
sugars in the strands which creates a richer & darker look.
Choosing Bamboo Fusion strand woven
flooring results in an exotic looking, tough and durable, high
performing & environmentally sustainable floor for future generations. |
