Up Lauzon Appalachian MIRAGE Kahrs Bruce Homerwood Armstrong BR-111 Chelsea Plank

We are a manufacturer of high quality hardwood plank flooring. Our hardwood floors are found in homes and buildings - from vacation cabins to custom designed homes and from office complexes to retail stores.

Choose from the unparalleled beauty and quality of oak, ash, cherry, hickory, maple or black walnut. Our hardwood floors look real because they are real! Those looking for better quality than the commodity-grade red oak that is most commonly available, find HomerWood hardwood flooring has the uniqueness and beauty desired, at less expense than you might think!

For HomerWood, Character Grade is our target grade and is not an off-fall from other production. Machining defects are not considered part of the grade.

No two floors are ever the same. Just like snowflakes, nature individualizes each plank in each floor. This is part of the uniqueness of our floors, one of the features that appeals to the consumer who seeks individuality.

What is Character?
Character Grade
is unique and only manufactured by HomerWood. We use the word "Character" to describe our flooring because the wood's inherent characteristics - the very fingerprints of nature - have been beautifully and reassuringly preserved. Of course, we remove any defects that could weaken your floor. The end result is an elegant floor that includes both clear and character planks that reflect the best attributes of the natural wood.

Insist on the Real Thing
Do not confuse Character Grade
with lower quality rustics, #2 and cabin grades, which contain large edge defects, stained wood, machining defects and unsound pieces. These inferior flooring grades are what is left over after they pull the better grade out. Character Grade is the only grade we pull from lumber selected for a sound vintage look.

Homer Wood™ Prefinished Plank
Homerwood prefinished floors are clear coated, with a low sheen, and durable finish that utilizes the latest finishing technology backed by a wear-through warranty. The current technology is multi-coat Aluminum Oxide used by most major flooring manufacturers, commonly marketed under private label. The Aluminum Oxide finish replicates the stately look of many European homes. HomerWood's prefinished Character Grade™ flooring will add beauty and comfort to your home whether you reside in a rustic cabin in the mountains, a condo in the city or a luxurious home in the suburbs.

HomerWood's Character Grade™ maintains the most natural look possible in our flooring. Cherry and Walnut may contain some lighter colored sapwood. For a sap-free look, simply order 15% more and have your installer remove the sap. Cherry is our #1 best seller. When you receive your cherry floor it will be lighter in color than the sample board. Cherry reacts with light and darkens with age.

The Amish Hand-Scraped Collection

This collection of Character Grade flooring offers a truly authentic distressed look because it is hand-scraped by Pennsylvania Dutch craftsmen in the tradition of Renaissance-era woodworking. New planks are hand-sculpted, one at a time, to create unique custom flooring of timeless originality and distinction. Unlike most of today's machine-distressed flooring, no two planks are alike and each bears the signature of the proud craftsman who created it.

The Amish Hand-Scraped Collection is available in prefinished and unfinished wood that includes Cherry Cinnamon, Hickory Natural, Hickory Saddle, Oak Saddle, Red Oak Natural, Black Walnut Natural and White Oak Natural. Some species are specially-stained to further enhance and deepen the effect of the hand-scraping. It is a beautiful choice for adding heritage and history to your home.

Frequently Asked Questions About Homerwood Flooring

Q. Why should I consider "Character GradeTM" versus #2 or Rustic Grades?

A. Most #2 and rustic grades of flooring are "what is left over" after the flooring plant pulls out the higher grades. Character Grade is made from specially selected timber and it includes the higher grades as well. This is Homerwood's primary product line, not an accumulation or byproduct.

Q. Why do you get seasonal separations between planks?

A. This occurs when humidity changes from winter to summer are not controlled in the house. Typically if the separations occur, it is in winter and they will close in summer.

Q. Why should I buy Prefinished Flooring versus Unfinished Flooring?

A. Unfinished flooring installed by a professional gives the most options regarding sheen and custom colors. Prefinished flooring is convenient. There is less time involved in installation and less mess. Changes in humidity will not crack the finish between two individual planks as they can move independently.

Q. Why do some prefinish products carry 25 year warranties?

A. This is strictly a marketing gimmick. If you read the warranty and disclaimers carefully you will see the only thing covered is total wear through to raw wood. If you live in a sterile environment and live in your socks this is a good warranty. Also, if a piece does wear through only that piece can be replaced.

Q. Why is prefinished microbevelled?

A. When a floor is sanded in your home minor differences in the subfloor and wood thickness are corrected. Our tiny microbevel is to insure stocking feet do not catch on the edge of the floor.
